About me

I’m a Software Engineer, based in Melbourne, Australia (born and bred). I can’t honestly tell you why I chose to study Software Engineering at university, given I’d never written a single line of code before day one of Programming Principles 1A (HTML doesn’t count!). Maybe it was the long hours I spent playing Prince of Persia on my dad’s Mac. Lucky for me in turned out to be a pretty awesome career choice, and I get to build “cool stuff”.

By day I work at a Melbourne based startup, Milanote, building a world class tool where creative people plan and organise their most important projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Making sure the app is performant and reliable as our user base scales
  • Monitor and improve the security of the application and hosting infrastructure, and respond to incoming vulnerability reports
  • Keeping track of and optimising our hosting/infrastructure costs
  • Maintaining and optimising CI/CD pipelines
  • Writing back-end/API code

Technology Landscape: 10+ engineers using GitHub, GitHub Actions, AWS CodeDeploy, AWS EC2, AWS Lambda, Node.js, React, Redux, AWS ElastiCache (Redis), MongoDB Atlas, ElasticSearch, Neo4j, New Relic, Rollbar

By night you can find me playing in a local basketball comp, or sampling craft beer.
